All earthworks were completed according to schedule. During the construction process, 663 thousand cubic meters of soil were removed from the pit. Work continues to construct the foundation of the pit. Its geometry is 196 by 266 meters, and the design elevation is minus 15.85 meters.

Now on the territory of the KuNPP there are two of the tallest cooling towers in Russia, each 179 meters high.
The Titan workers managed to complete the construction of the cooling tower ahead of schedule, despite the strict requirements and technology for performing the work. The quality of the work performed and the stages of construction were carefully monitored by the First Deputy General Director for Nuclear Energy of the Rosatom State Corporation, President of ASE JSC Andrey Petrov and General Director of Rosenergoatom Concern JSC Alexander Shutikov.
“The Kursk site is of strategic importance for the nuclear industry. We are developing solutions and technologies that we will replicate at foreign construction sites here,” noted Andrey Petrov. “By developing the energy infrastructure and constructing new capacities, we guarantee the economic stability of the country.”
“Construction of the cooling tower of the second power unit began in August 2021. We completed it in 747 days - this is faster than similar work on the cooling tower of the first power unit of the Kursk NPP-2 under construction,” said Oleg Shperle, vice-president and project director for the construction of the Kursk NPP of ASE JSC.
The completion of the cooling tower is a key event this year. Now TITAN-2 specialists will have to install precast reinforced concrete inside the cooling tower for the installation of fill packs, as well as water-lifting mains and supply pipelines.
