The new plant is being constructed to replace the acting Smolensk NPP with RMBK-1000 reactors, whose production capacities service life is about to expire. The main construction period of Smolensk NPP-2 is scheduled for 2027-2035.
As part of implementation of program Performance of Complex of Works for the Construction of the Smolensk NPP-2 Power Units Nos. 1 and 2 with the Installed Capacity of 2400 MW, Smolensk NPP construction program directorate will be organized.
Preparatory period works for the construction of the power units are in progress at the present moment. Prior to the commencement of the construction of the main facilities of the future station, JSC CONCERN TITAN-2 has to perform a massive complex of works: arrange the construction and installation base, accommodation camp and other facilities.
