The goal of the visit was to assess the effectiveness of the implemented principles of the Rosatom production system (RPS) and to get acquainted with the best practices of the holding.

During the visit, the delegation headed by Sergei Obozov toured the construction site of the Leningrad NPP-2. The Project Managers briefed the guests on construction and installation works management and the operational control system.

A particular attention was drawn to the system “Smart Watch” («Умные часы») designed to analyze working hours of construction personnel. This technology allows to carry out accurate time-keeping and to streamline work-flows. The results of the pilot project will be carefully examined with subsequent technology roll-out at the other Rosatom facilities in mind.

Another new initiative put forward by the general contractor is an automated system for personal protective equipment (PPE) and consumables release through vending machines. Currently they are in pilot commercial operation at Construction and Installation Department 16 of PJSC SUS.

Aleksandr Kovyazin, Head of the Division for Work on Russian Projects at the RPS Management Department of PJSC SUS, commented:

“After several months of testing the devices, the advantages of the system are already noticeable. First and foremost, I’m referring to reduction in non-production time losses, accurate accounting and quick supply of materials. Next, we plan to introduce these machines on construction sites to provide workers in the pit with all the necessities. It has also become possible to eliminate overspending, as the system operates on personal ACS cards with fixed issuance rates. We automate accounting and monitor balance in the online mode, whereas integration with accounting allows us to automatically write off materials and generate replenishment requests”.

During the visit to Power Units 3 and 4 under construction at the LNPP-2, the delegation heard reports on the progress and pace of work, as well as on the specifics of construction and RPS projects implementation. A particular attention was drawn to the successfully completed project "Installation of the Inner Containment 30 UJA in the design position at the LNPP-2", initiated by PJSC SUS, as well as to the plans to launch three new RPS projects.

At the end of the visit, young TITAN-2 specialists presented reports on their own initiatives within the RPS projects framework to Sergei Obozov. It is important to note that many of the specialists, having only recently become familiar with the concept of RPS, took active stance and chose areas for improvement on their own.

Following the meeting, Sergei Obozov, SC Rosatom Deputy General Director for RPS Development, remarked on the excellent production practices and good condition of the construction site in terms of the implemented production system, as well as a deep understanding of the principles of the "Last Planner" system among the engineers.

In addition, the holding was tasked with creating an exemplary RPS site at the Leningrad NPP-2, which will become a successor of a similar site at the Kursk NPP-2.
