The first inspection of the occupational health and safety management system arranged by the committee of Rosenergoatom JSC has been carried out at the construction sites of Power Units 3 and 4 at the Smolensk NPP-2. 

JSC CONCERN TITAN-2, acting as the general contractor for the SNPP-2 construction, has demonstrated its willingness to implement and maintain high safety standards since the very early stages of the facility construction.

The main objective of the event was to implement safety standards at the construction site that meet the strict requirements of nuclear industry. During the inspection, a particular attention was drawn to the interaction between the customer, Smolensk NPP, and the general contractor, the distribution of areas of liability, current staff briefing programs and documentation preparation.

At the current stage, JSC CONCERN TITAN-2 is continuously creating a construction and installation base, excavation pits are being developed, foundations of administrative buildings and a canteen are being laid. Temporary utility networks and roads are being built, a concrete mixing unit is under construction and a site for the reinforcement shop is being prepared.

Pavel Tkatchenko, Deputy Director of the Smolensk NPP-2 Construction Program at JSC CONCERN TITAN-2, noted:

“We thank the Rosenergoatom commission for the constructive dialogue and professional recommendations. The comments provided give us a clear guideline for further work. Our main focus is prevention. We are ready to apply the best industry practices to ensure compliance with the strictest safety standards”.
