The Proryv PDPC is being built on the site of the Siberian Chemical Complex in order to create the closed fuel cycle technology. The key component of the PDPC is the BREST-OD-300 power unit with a fast neutron reactor containing a lead coolant.
TITAN-2 Holding specialists completed the pre-assembly of the crane’s span beams and installed them on the crane runway in the machine room. The structure has weighed 110 tons. The lifting was performed using a Liebherr LR 11350 crane with a lifting capacity of 1,350 tons.

«The main challenge in such operations is properly slinging the load being lifted and taking weather conditions into account. In gusty winds, large loads can become uncontrollable, creating the risk of damage to nearby structures and machinery. It was also necessary to first install the crane runway in strict accordance with GOST standards.
The coordinated work of crane operators, mechanics, and fitters made it possible to successfully install the crane’s large beams in the design position. In addition, extensive preparatory work was carried out: installation of the end carriages to the span beams using bolted connections with controlled tension, assembly of the working and erection trolleys, calculation of the lifting devices, and procurement of special slings.»
In the nearest time, the specialists are to perform the coupling of the span beams as well as to install the load and erection trolleys, to be followed by the control cabin and electric installation.
In order to complete all the works, including the crane commissioning and delivery to operation, the specialists will need several months.
The crane was manufactured at the Uralkran plant; its maximum lifting capacity is 280 tons.
The crane is scheduled to be commissioned for temporary operation in early August. By this time, the roof trusses in the turbine hall should have been installed. All internal rigging works, such as the installation of the turbine, generator and auxiliary equipment, will be performed using a standard bridge crane.
Within the summer period, it is necessary to prepare the entire turbine hall and to close the heating circuit.
