The work was carried out by specialists from CONCERN TITAN-2, which is the general contractor on the site.
The injector building* is one of the most technologically complex and functionally significant buildings in the center. It is in this building that a linear accelerator will be installed, where a beam of electrons will be formed, which will be able to accelerate to the speed of light, ensuring the operation of the entire core facilities center.
When performing the work, B30 concrete was used, which is characterized by high density and frost resistance. Under the massive slab of the building there are several layers of compacted soil, the total thickness of the base including the foundation is 10 meters. This indicator will ensure maximum stability of the electron beam. Tests were carried out before work began. To prevent concrete from cracking, it is important to maintain the temperature difference between the core of the concrete and its surface.
“Today, work at all facilities is proceeding in parallel. About 350 people are involved at the construction site - these are both the own forces of JSC CONCERN TITAN-2 and contractors of the Novosibirsk region. We continue to increase volumes; in the next month or two there will be more builders - 800–1000 specialists. Also, starting in July, we will cooperate with student construction teams, they will carry out auxiliary work,” said Andrey Goncharov, director of the program for construction of the SKIF Core Facilities Centre of Concern TITAN-2 JSC.
The volume of completed construction and installation work at all facilities of the center is 25%. By the beginning of the autumn period, the specialists of CONCERN TITAN-2 plan to complete the concreting of the remaining foundation of the injector building, the main storage ring and two remote stations. There are also plans to complete the installation of metal structures and cladding of buildings, the construction of walls and ceilings for other facilities, in order to carry out engineering and finishing work in the winter. Commissioning of the facility is scheduled for 2024.
The SKIF Core Facilities Centre will be a real technological breakthrough. It will bring scientific research in all industries to a new level.
