The total area of the foundation slab for the turbine building is about 6,000 square metres. 17,500 cubic metres of concrete and 3,500 t of reinforcement steel will be laid into the foundation slab structure. The concreting height is seven metres.

The foundation slab of the building for the turbine plant consists of 12 zones, so-called “bays”. After 680 cubic metres of concrete are laid into the first bay, turbine generator plant cooling system consisting of pre-assembled pipelines with a diameter of 3 metres will be installed.

Pit preparation, arrangement of concrete bedding of the foundation with a volume of 38,000 cubic metres, arrangement of waterproofing and reinforcement of foundation slab preceded the start of concreting.

When the concrete achieves the design strength, a special committee assisted by representatives of Nuclear Regulatory Agency of Turkey (NDK) and an independent supervisory organisation will check the quality of concreting. After that the stage of arrangement of foundation slab for the turbine building of Akkuyu NPP Power Unit No. 4 will be deemed completed.
