The following has been installed into the design position: reactor pressure vessel, casings of the unit reactor coolant pumps, hydraulic accumulators of the emergency core cooling system and steam generators. Reactor coolant pipeline units have also been delivered to the installation area, pre-assembly of which has been conducted at the specially equipped workshop within the construction site area.

Equipment is installed using Liebherr LR 13000 heavy-duty crawler crane as per Open Top technology consisting in delivering of equipment through the open top section of the reactor building cylindrical part.

Preparation to welding of the reactor coolant pipeline is now in progress. It connects the main equipment of the nuclear power plant primary circuit. Pipeline welding will last for approximately three months. The welding is expected to be started in spring of 2022.

“After installing steam generators, we are one step closer to the milestone of the first Power Unit construction – welding of the reactor coolant pipeline, where the primary coolant will circulate. The builders will equip the so called final Installation area. During RCPL welding, the demanded cleanliness of premises, quality and air humidity are ensured, as the most stringent requirements are imposed on the quality of RCPL weld joints,” stated Sergey Butskikh, First Deputy General Director – Director of the NPP under Construction.
