The reactor pressure vessel with a mass of more than 300 tons, was lifted from a special platform, moved over the cylinder part of the containment and installed in the concrete reactor shaft.

The works have been completed using Liebherr heavy-duty crawler crane with high lifting capacity and enhanced positioning precision.

This is one of the key stages in the main equipment assembly. Prior to reactor pressure vessel installation, the “core catcher” was mounted at Unit 1, concreting of the support and thrust trusses was carried out, and dry shielding and thermal insulation of the reactor vessel cylinder part were installed. Shortly before installing the reactor pressure vessel, the support ring, which carries the main weight load of the vessel, was installed.
