At early stages of manufacturing, the reactor pressure vessel for the Akkuyu NPP and its parts successfully passed more than 300 inspection tests. It took 20 days to deliver the vessel from the special-purpose jetty of JSC Atommash at the Tsimlyansk Reservoir to the Vostochny cargo terminal at the Akkuyu NPP site. During this time, the cargo travelled 3,000 kilometres.

“Construction and installation works at the Akkuyu NPP site are actively underway. On the first unit, some of the key structural components have already been installed: the second tier of the inner containment, the cantilever truss and the support truss, the core catcher, and the dry containment have been set into the design positions. Today we are accepting the heart of the first unit of the NPP—the reactor pressure vessel. Upon completion of all necessary customs procedures, the reactor pressure vessel will undergo an incoming inspection,” said Sergey Butskikh, First Deputy Director General and the Director of the NPP under construction.

The special committee will check the completeness and quality of the design and supporting documentation and thoroughly inspect the structure using various equipment. At the subsequent stage the reactor pressure vessel shall be handed over for installation.
