Project employees erect a set of structures intended for salt water supply to the main process areas of the future power plant.

“We have started the construction the main pumping station, pit excavation, and installation of the complex anchor system. This stage was preceded by the whole auxiliary works package, namely sea filling, construction of retaining walls, installation of heavy-duty anchors and creation of a coastal protection area for protection against storms and floods,” said Dzhomakhmad Azizov, head of the project.

Specialists are planning to lift the pumping station of Power Unit 1 above the ground level by the end of the next year and to start dismantling the offshore embankment.

“We also construct siphon wells and outlet channels. By the end of this year we shall excavate a pit for these facilities, and in the beginning of the next year we shall start the construction part, i.e. reinforcement and concreting of structures. Also, the next year we expect to receive hydromechanical equipment for these facilities,” said Nikolay Apalkov, deputy head of project construction and installation works.

Meanwhile, preparation for construction of pumping stations for Power Units 2, 3, and 4 of the Akkuyu NPP is underway.
