The aim of the visit was to get acquainted with manufacturing of equipment and metalwork for Akkuyu, the first NPP in Turkey, which is currently under construction.

“We chose several control points on which we inspect the equipment before this equipment is sent to the site. We have to be sure that it is manufactured in accordance with all standards and safety requirements,” said Yusuf Ceylan, Head of the Regulatory Department of the Turkish Nuclear Regulatory Agency (NDK).

Currently, specialists of LLC TITAN TECHNOLOGY PIPELINE manufacture components of the inner containment of the reactor building. These components will be delivered to the construction site in Turkey as separate parts and then will be assembled into one structure for the subsequent installation. Also, the guests visited the shop where stainless steel equipment was made, including cans for one of the nuclear island facilities of the Akkuyu NPP under construction.

“TPL provides all subsidiaries of the TITAN-2 Holding with metalware. Traditionally, we manufacture structural metalwork, i.e. embedded parts, reinforcement units as well as pipes and equipment. In 2020, LLC TPL received the extended manufacturer’s certificate from NDK for manufacturing of products and equipment of safety class 1 for Akkuyu NPP. Therefore, for us the prerequisite of this visit was to show improvements implemented both in the engineering and process training at the enterprise and in the way the production cycle and the supervision are ensured. I think that we did our best,” noted Yuriy Etingen, Deputy Director General for Quality of LLC TPL.

At the meeting with Grigory Naginskiy, Head of the TITAN-2 holding, the specialists from Turkey received information about technologies and the main stages of equipment installation. Experience obtained during construction of the new power units of the Leningrad NPP will be used at the site in Turkey. Today, many specialists from Sosnovy Bor work at the Akkuyu NPP construction site.

“The NDK Inspectors Department works immediately at the construction site. They receive schedules and quality plans and choose inspections to participate in on the basis of these materials. At the same time, our inspectors from the joint enterprise TİTAN2 IC İÇTAŞ İNŞAAT ANONİM ŞİRKETİ cooperate with colleagues from Turkey and, if necessary, clarify the requirements of the Russian regulatory documentation,” said Maksim Shadrin, Deputy Chief Engineer for International Projects of JSC CONCERN TITAN-2.
