Concreting of the Reactor Building Inner Containment Dome Completed at the Akkuyu NPP First Power Unit

It is a milestone at the construction site that ensures airtightness of the reactor building of unit No.1 and allows to proceed to next stage of works – installation of the containment pre-tensioning system ropes.

After the completion of the concreting, the IC dome top reaches el.+61.700 and wall thickness is 1200 mm.

To ensure maximal rigidity of the dome, 422 tons of reinforcement and more than 3200 m3 of concrete were applied. The construction workers used a special high-quality concrete mix there. Each batch of the concrete mix and its properties were carefully inspected both in the batch plant and directly at the Akkuyu NPP construction site.

After the completion of the construction stage of the IC-related works, the specialists have to install the outer containment and perform other acceptance works before the completion of first power unit.
