The turbine has been set to barring. Preparations for this milestone lasted for several months.

After the turbo set units were transferred to the permanent pads, the fitters centered the rotors and the flow path of the turbine. After that, the cylinders and bearings of the turbine were closed for testing. In addition, the condensate-feed pipeline, lubrication and rotor lifting oil system pipelines were flushed.

The turbine idling was performed on 23/12/2019 with a standard barring gear - first using a manual drive, and then using an electric motor. The rate of turn of the turbine rotors from the barring gear makes up about 1 rpm. The operation was successful with no malfunctions, which indicates that all the turbine elements are assembled efficiently and that the subsequent installation steps can be done.

Now, MSU-90 needs to prepare the turbine for a trial vacuum build-up. The rate of its rotation during the power unit operation will be 3000 rpm.
