In a day, specialists of Mechanization Department of JSC Metrostroy concreted the dome part of a structure at a level mark +70,200. In total 120 cubic meters of concrete have been run. A tower crane lifted Concrete mix in special vessels to the reactor dome. As this type of concrete has special characteristics, in particular high harshness, it was necessary to run it continuously.
Work was conducted in shifts by teams of eight people. In total more than hundred people work in one shift on the reactor dome now. Apart from concreting the dome, specialists of JSC Metrostroy are engaged in covering four tanks of the passive heat removal system.
Concreting of the external containment marks completion of work on monolithic structures of the reactor building. Experts will need only to fix permanent railing and to close assembly apertures.
In future when the power unit is going into operation the external reactor containment will ensure its safe operation, protect it from natural and technogenic external impacts, including earthquakes, hurricanes, plane crashes. In this regard special strong reinforcement and high-grade concrete are used for construction of external containment.
