The crane which can lift up to 390 tons will be used at all stages of the lifecycle of Power Unit 1. It is a major piece of machinery of the reactor compartment, with the highest safety class for nuclear power plant equipment.
The polar crane will move various loads in the reactor building and will be involved in the unloading of nuclear fuel. Its design will allow transport operations to be carried out anywhere in the hall of the reactor building: the bogey moves along the bridge, which is 41.5 metres long.
The total weight of the crane components is about 500 tons. The crane will move on a circular track installed in the cylindrical upper part of the reactor building.
