To protect from exposure, the main elements of the reactor plant – the steam generators – were covered with special structures.
The design of the structures was developed by the design and engineering branch of JSC CONCERN TITAN-2. The equipment was manufactured at the JSC MSU-90 production facility. The structures were assembled and installed by JSC MSU-90.
The steam generators protective cover is a sectional metal structure weighing approx. 8.5 tons. Upon completion of the reactor building slab at elev. +26,000 the protective structures will be taken down.
Currently, the slabs are being reinforced by PJSC Northern Construction Department. Until the end of this year it is planned to install the reactor pressure vessel on its design location with an “open-top” technique through the building roof.
