Specialists of area No. 1 of JSC MSU-90 are finishing installation of racks in the nuclear fuel pool.

Racks are manufactured of corrosion-proof steel. Total weight of 12 racks is 265 tons. The metal structures are designed for temporarily storage of spent nuclear fuel. They are mounted in the fuel pool in the reactor building between level marks +8,000 and +26,300.

The racks were moved to the reactor building by a transportation lock trestle crane. Then the racks were reloaded to a polar crane and lowered into the fuel pool. Metal structures were mounted on special metal frames.

When all racks are mounted, the fuel pool will be filled in with water again to continue testing.
