Specialist of Third Unit of JSC SEM are installing a section of gas-insulated bus duct at the construction site of new power units of Leningrad NPP.

Each section is 5,5-meter long and it weighs 0,6t. All in all 122 section shall be installed.

Works are done at the trestle, connecting a turbine building of the Power Unit №1 and the Power Unit № 2 with the gas-insulated switchgear building (SWGR 330 kV). Overall length of the bus duct is more than one kilometer.

The gas-insulated bus duct is designed to transfer 330 kV power to the SWGR building (the switchgear to feed voltage to the 330 kV grid) from block step-up transformers of the turbine building. The gas-insulated bus duct is a metal pipe with an internal aluminum bus of 125 mm in diameter. To create proper insulation the pipe is filled in by gas (a mixture of  sulfur hexafluoride and nitrogen in 50/50 percentage).

Electricians of JSC SEM have installed sections of gas-insulated bus duct from the SWGR building to the turbine building of the first Power Unit and mounted gas sensors. After bus duct supporting poles are installed at the turbine building by the contractor, it will be connected to the transformers.
